Captain Jack Sparrow

Captain Jack Sparrow passed away in 2020 from Cancer.
Learn a little about his life and history below.

Who he Was :

Jack Sparrow is may have had only one eye, but as a sanctuary cat he had a big heart. Rescued from the shelter but unwanted by anyone, he found a job in helping others here at ALPRAS. You could say he 'saw' better than some by looking into someone's heart. He was a cat who helped 'test' rescue animals to see how they react to cats. Jack stayed cool no matter the situation and knew how to set boundaries. We often called him 'Daddy Jack' because he was so much like one to the other animals. He helped teach them, young or old, how to behave around others.

His History :

Originally Jack came from Orange County Animal Control in North Carolina. He was pulled into the rescue the same time Blizzard Calypso was. They were a great pair helping care for other cats and especially tiny kittens. Even as an older guy, he remained a confident cat who never forgot his job.  ALPRAS feels a little less complete without our Pirate who in our book is a Hero, but his memory and legacy will live on in our hearts and in all the animals he helped.
